This year the 3rd International BioSC Symposium took place in Bonn, where national and international speakers from academia and industry presented current results and developments for a sustainable bioeconomy.

The Bioeconomy Science Center (BioSC) is an association of four different research institutions - RWTH Aachen University, Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf (HHUD), Friedrich-Wilhelms-University Bonn and Forschungszentrum Jülich. The aim of the BioSC is to conduct research to build up a greener economy based on biomaterial. The focus is on sustainable bioproduction and resource conservation, microbial and molecular material conversion, process engineering of renewable raw materials as well as economy and social implications.

Prof. Dr. S. Herres-Pawlis coordinates a seed fund project within the BioSC, which aims to move from renewable to high-performance bioplastics through a sustainable production way.

The poster presented by Alina Hermann on this topic was awarded with the Poster Award at the 3rd International BioSC Symposium.
