Research Funding From Volkswagen Foundation

The Volkswagen Foundation is funding the research project “Circularity with Recycled and Biogenic Resources”. This project is funded in the Volkswagen Foundation’s “Circularity with Recycled and Biogenic Resources” funding line. Professor Sonja Herres-Pawlis and Professor Andreas Jupke were successful with this proposal. Research on plastic products and their environmental impact has so far focused on the laboratory scale, and the path to industrial application is highly challenging. The project aims to bridge the so-called valley of death in innovation by using environmentally compatible and highly active polymerization catalysts. Further, the aim is to improve the chemical recycling of polylactide with catalysts in order to achieve closed-loop recovery of monomers from used plastics.
